The aged man was walking east on the road when he was hit by a car driven by Miss Bernadine O'Brien. Suffering from two broken legs, head injuries and other apparent lacerations, the victim was examined on the scene by Dr. John Derjanecz who ordered him taken by ambulance to hospital in St. John's.
