- DEVINE, Samuel - Evening Telegram July 29, 1909 (Thursday) - Found Dead in Bed. Samuel Devine of Holyrood, working at Bell Island on the mines, was found dead in bed there yesterday evening. The body was brought over to Holyrood to-day via Kelligrews for interment. Deceased who was 45 years of age was well known in the city, and was very popular among his fellow workers. It is supposed he died of heart failure.
I don't know about the validity of the reference to Sam being "of Holyrood", suggesting he actually lived there and worked at Bell Island. The Vital Statistic death record states his age was 55 and that he was buried at Cape Broyle.(KR)
