- In January 1870, Crown Land grant #3068 implies that there were two James Walshs at Caplin Bay. The grant was made to James Walsh Jr., but it mentions that the land he was granted was bounded, on the south western side, by property owned by James Walsh Sr. Strangely, it does not mention a road way between these two pieces of property. The survey sketch appears to show the land north of what is now the public road. This section of the public road is still referred to locally as Walshes Lane.
No other reference has been found to James Walsh Jr. All of the property, both side of the road, was eventually inherited by descendants of Robert Walsh and Mary (Walsh) Murphy, James' brother and sister respectively.
