Marriage and Deaths listings from The Harbour Grace Standard and Conception Bay Advertiser St. John's - 18-Mar 1863 At same place, on Sunday the 8th inst., after a lingering illness, borne with Christian resignation to the Divine will, Mrs. Elizabeth MADDEN, widow of the late Mr. John MADDEN, of Caplin Bay, in the 82nd year of her age. In 1836, Elizabeth Madden complained to the magistrates that Michael Curragan (or Corrigan) had refused to employ her son on the terms that had been agreed upon between the parties; the matter was settled out of court.
