- Robert Luke's baptism record identifies him as the son of Kyran Condon and Anne Swaine. This was obviously an error by the priest, since there is no notation that he was illegitimate. However, some family researchers have put a more sinister spin on this error, suggesting that Robert Luke was Kyran's son, and that Thomas Condon married Anne Swaine and raised Robert Luke as his own so that the family would not be disgraced. However, Robert Luke's Nova Scotia death certificate states that his parents were Thomas Condon and Ann Swain. Robert Luke moved to Kingston, Nova Scotia after the great fire of 1892 razed the city of St. John's, where he was living.
