Father	Francis Geary,   d. Aft 1871
Mother	Anne Rossiter,   b. Caplin Bay, Newfoundland ,   d. Abt 1859, Ferryland, Newfoundland
  Married	13 Nov 1849	St. Luke's CE Parish, Ferryland, Newfoundland   [2, 3]
Although Anne's marriage was recorded in the Ferryland Church of England records, there were no baptisms for any children recorded in the Church of England baptismal register. The one child, for which there is a surviving baptismal record, was baptized Roman Catholic. This marriage was also noted very briefly by Robert Carter in his Journal stating "Geary married by Mr. Hamilton" (the CE pastor for Ferryland). It is likely the couple were also married within the Roman Catholic Church. This manoeuvre kept Francis in good standing within his religious faith (Roman Catholicism) and also satisfied the bias towards members of that faith who were holding Crown appointments.
